This page is for those who like brain-teasers with a biblical connection. Here, you can download free bible-related word-mazes. The free printable bible-based word-search puzzles that are listed on a table below, have most of their words taken directly from some part of the Bible – not specific to any particular translation, but often close to the 1769 King James version's wordings. Some of these mazes are hard to solve, some are easy, some perhaps "medium". For most people, each puzzle probably takes at least 15-20 minutes to finish. The size of these word-searches varies – the smallest one contains only 35 words, while the largest one has 135. There are now 87 different free, printable word-mazes for download—58 documents have 1 puzzle each, 2 have 2 puzzles, 2 contain 8, and 1 has 9, adding up to a total of 87.

For a graphic sample image of these free, zoomable and printable PDF-puzzles, click here.

They are in freely zoomable PDF-format, for paper-size A4, or A3 or even larger. Most of them are also available in a version that enables print with large letters on A4-size paper. A note: You need the Adobe Reader for viewing and printing these puzzles. Most probably, it is already installed on your computer.

The PDF-files are only between 10 and 110 kilobytes in size but again, they can be zoomed and give sharp print even in large print sizes. You can freely copy and print these puzzle documents to others – however, you may not exclude or edit anything in them, or add anything to them. A note: This site is not connected to any church, denomination, religious organisation or anything like that. Further down in this present document, there are some notes on these puzzles.

Check this page later for eventual additions, new mazes. See also the page ew07b.htm which has a small brain-teaser with a big spiritual lesson. The page es04b.htm has a self-test of bible-knowledge. For easy keys for understanding Scripture in a better way, and for avoiding certain common mistakes in study, see the essay eg02c.htm.

Some notes on these word-puzzles.

These puzzles are made for adults and youth and teenagers, and even children from ten years and up, but they may be too hard or difficult as an activity for children in their first school years.

In word-grids of this kind, there will always be some "additional" words that are neither a part of the puzzle nor placed there on purpose. The author has tried to check through these puzzles so that they do not contain any offensive or unpleasant words. However, in word-puzzles on this kind, many different combinations can arise. Consider as an example the word DELIVERER: When it is placed in a word-maze, someone might read it in the other direction and see only the letters EVIL. But, as you can understand, no evil is meant here by placing for instance the word DELIVERER in a word-puzzle.

Some of these puzzles may have a "hidden message", consisting of the first of the "left-over" letters. Whether or not a word-maze has "hidden words", is stated in each individual puzzle-document.

You are welcome to print and give copies of these puzzles even to others, provided that they are kept and printed exactly as they are, including the addresses and the date at their lower end.

The subjects of many of these puzzles "overlap". An example: The same names of the same persons and places may appear in more than one puzzle. Also: Some names may appear twice even in the same puzzle, with different spellings.

If you have any comments on these puzzles, or if you wish to have a new one on some specific biblical subject, please write. The page purpose.htm has an email-address to this writer.

These word-mazes are meant as brain-teasers, and not as biblical, geographical or historical lessons. But, as many of them contain names and places that most likely are not familiar to many people (but which nevertheless are found in the Bible), perhaps they can serve as a reminder that we all should keep on studying the Bible.

A suggestion: Take a puzzle, and your bible-study material, and find out who, where and what the persons, places and things mentioned in the puzzle really were. Again, the pages es01d.htm and es02c.htm have advice on tools, helps and methods for in-depth bible-study.

Again, a note: This site is not connected to any church, denomination, religious organisation or anything like that.

How to understand the Bible. Easy keys to interpreting and understanding Scripture in a better and deeper way, by avoiding certain fundamental but common mistakes and errors in bible study. These vital keys are really the basics for objective bible study. Knowing these keys will make many things easier to interpret and comprehend, and one will see several central matters in the Bible from a new and different perspective, especially in connection with the Gospels and the Epistles. eg02c.htm

How to study the Bible in a deeper way. Some simple guidelines and notes on study methods. For real and thorough in-depth study and exegesis of the Scriptures, an interlinear bible with Strong's numbers and a concordance with a lexicon and bible commentaries are not good enough; a computer bible is needed. Some facts and recommendations regarding bible study suites for computers, including tools for word search, word study and adding and editing your own electronic marginal notes verse for verse, tools for studying the Hebrew text of the Old Testament and the Greek text of the New Testament, and links for download of bible software (both free and commercial). es02c.htm

The meaning of the words Christ, Christian, Messiah and Messias. Also: Did the saints call themselves "Christians" – christianos or christianoi? eg07b.htm

What does the word "righteous" really mean? What does the Bible say about righteousness? eg08b.htm

"Amateur bible students" versus "professional theologians". Some preachers have spitefully called people who actively study the Bible on their own, "amateur theologians". Indeed, many a clergyman seems to feel that a layman should not put his or her nose into theological studies but should rather leave those things to "experts". But, is that correct? This treatise sorts out that matter, and clarifies and explains in layman's terms the linguistic and historical background of the concepts clergymen and laymen and gives the definition and actual meaning of such words as clergy, laity, scholar and scholarly. es07c.htm

What does the English language word and concept "doctrine" literally mean? Likewise, the terms "dogma", "creed" and "tenet", what do they signify? Countless preachers and doctors of theology compile dogmas, creeds, tenets and doctrinal statements of beliefs, and claim them to be "the Truth". But, they do not agree with each other. Their opinions and teachings differ, depending on their denomination and its viewpoints, and there is much confusion. So, the pertinent question is, who has the "true doctrines" or "correct dogmas"? What should one think – do the Scriptures give any guidance regarding this matter? What does the Bible say about "doctrine"? es08c.htm
